Directorate of Extension Education works on a mission mode through professional extension services including trainings, farm advisory, information services and knowledge resource centres offered by a team of Subject Matter Specialists from various discipline who performs their excellence in participatory mode in close coordination with various outside agencies and units within the University.

 

  • National Level Model training Courses:- Directorate of Extension Education organize national level model training courses on hi-tech horticulture, maize production technology, micro irrigation system, water conservation technology, management of arid horticulture, federating farmers into business group, processing and value addition, livestock based IFS, management of poultry, market intelligence, etc. along with workshops and seminars for promoting professional competency of officials and extension personnel’s working in different parts of the country. The programme is sponsored by Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India.

  • State and interstate level training programmes:- DEE also organize short duration training programmes for subject matter specialists of line departments on organic farming, vermi-composting, medicinal and aromatic plants, integrated farming system, production & protection technologies of crops, vegetables & fruits etc. In these courses, the officials and scientists are exposed to emerging problems and their possible solutions as well as advances in technologies.

  • Winter / Summer School: To update the knowledge about recent advances in science and technology, DEE organize winter/summer schools in which scientists from SAU’s and ICAR institutes participate.

  • Backstopping for MPUAT SMS & rsquo;s, PA’s & farmers:- DEE also organize trainings for capacity building of KVK scientists and Programme Assistants and also organize Farmers-Scientists Interactions under backstopping. 

  • Training for Field Functionaries The DEE and KVK’s have also being entrusted with the responsibility of organizing in-service refresher training programme for the grass root level field functionaries of different line departments and NGO’s. The programmes are arranged in collaboration with the concerned line departments and aims to upgrade the skills in technical areas.

  • Training Programme for Farmers and Farm-women With approach of “Learning by Doing” DEE and KVK’s are organizing short duration courses on natural resource management, crop production, home science and other related disciplines for farmers and farm women. The instructional farms of KVKs have well developed demonstration and instructional units and these are being used for practical trainings.

  • Training for School Dropouts & Rural YouthThese trainings are organized to orient school dropouts and rural youth for skill up-gradation in subsidiary occupation. These trainings not only provide practical education in scientific manner to the participants but also orient them towards diversification of agriculture and rural employment generation. Recently, KVK- Banswara has been selected for ARYA (Attracting and retaining youth in Agriculture) project of ICAR. The KVK’s will provide trainings to attract and retain rural youth in agricultural enterprise.

  • Specialized and Sponsored Training programmeThe KVK’s are also specialized in organizing training programmes for farmers, farmwomen and youth in collaboration with National Horticulture Mission, Rajasthan Skills and Livelihoods Development Corporation, ATMA, NGO’s and other agencies. These training programmes are arranged on the request of the sponsoring agencies on various specialized issues of immediate concern.

  • Front Line Demonstrations With an aim to demonstrate the maximum genetic production potential of major cereal, oilseed and pulse crops, vegetables and fruit crops, animal, etc. in the field conditions and to develop leadership among farmers, frontline demonstrations are conducted under the direct supervision of research and extension scientists. These essentially provide an opportunity to the scientists to demonstrate the validity and relevance of the experimental findings on the farmer’s fields.

  • Assessment and Refinement of Technologies (OFTs)One of the most important mandated activities of KVK is to lay out trails for assessment and refinement of pipe line technologies for site specific need to improve its adoption, so that farmers can get benefit of it.

  • Publications and Farm AdvisoryThe information services rendered by this University serve as an important linke between the farmers and scientists in dissemination of information regarding agricultural innovations and technologies recommended by the University and allied institutions. These communication activities are undertaken through various means and ways including regular publications of Rajasthan Kheti and Krishi Calender.

  • Rajasthan Kheti - PratapThe Directorate is regularly publishing a monthly magazine “Rajasthan Kheti Pratap”. The content of magazine covers research based articles in Hindi language.   The magazine provides information with regard to recent ongoing advancements in the field of agriculture and allied areas which are beneficial to the farming community. The subscription of Rajasthan Kheti Pratap is around 4000. 

  • Krishi CalendarKrishi Calendar is a unique of its kind published regularly highlighting the agricultural activities to be performed in every month along with date and day, festivals, holidays etc. In the current year 10,000 calendars were published and provided to the farmers.

  • Leaflets / Folders / Pamphlets / BookletsATIC-DEE and KVK publish farmer friendly literature on agriculture and allied areas for the benefit of farming community in the form of leaflets/ pamphlets/booklets etc.

  • Extension ActivitiesDEE participate in various extension activities being organized by various institutions, KVK’s, NGO’s etc., like Kisan Melas, Field Days, Farmer–Scientist Interactions, Night Gosthies, etc. Apart from this, DEE organizes field days on cereals and pulses. A state level farmers fair and fruit, flower & vegetable show is also being organized regularly at the University headquarter.

  • Agriculture Technology Information Centre (ATIC)The Directorate of Extension Education, MPUAT, Udaipur provides need based advisory to the farmers through ATIC which intends to provide all basic needs of the farmers through a single window service.

  • Other Activities - SMART VILLAGEDirectorate of Extension Education selected Gram Panchayat – Chhali (Gogunda) viz., Chhali, Kadechawas and Undithal as SMART villages as per directives of Hon’ble Governor and Chancellor of the university. The university initiated activities for economic and livelihood security of farm households of the adopted villages through agri based enterprises.
